20/20 Vision
Have you ever lost your vision? I recently had temporary vision issues while traveling, and even though it was short, it was still scary. Due to a new prescription that I was taking for motion sickness, my vision was extremely blurry and I was unable to read anything for about 36 hours. Thankfully, the pharmacist had warned me that the prescription could cause blurry vision, otherwise I would have been freaking out. Of course, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh when the pharmacist warned me of the side effect. Once I realized what was happening, I stopped the prescription immediately. But it still took about a day and a half for it to wear off.
Somewhere along the way, I also lost my vision for my future at work. Every option that I thought about exploring just wasn’t fitting me or my dreams. That’s when I started to realize that my future existed beyond that job. And in order to see what my future was, it meant that I had to leave. At the beginning of 2019, I had no idea that I would soon be quitting my job to live out a dream that I had for many years. And as the new year arrives, I definitely don’t have a clear vision of how 2020 will end either. But I do have a vision of how 2020 will start. (2021 UPDATE: It turns out that NONE of us knew how 2020 was going to end!)
While 2019 was a year of rest and slowing down long enough to figure out what my passions are, 2020 is going to be a year of putting that information to use. I’m going to take new risks by exploring and trying new things that may or may not work out. But I’ve learned over the last year that sometimes we have to take that leap of faith in order to find our true happiness. I cannot wait to see where God leads me this year, and what He has in store for my career. Even though it’s scary, it’s exciting to think about what is coming.
